The Saikyo Bank, Ltd., which has its head
office in Tokuyama City (Yamaguchi Prefecture), one of Japan's
largest petro-chemical Kombinat cities, was established in
1930, since which time it has played an important role in
the development of the economy of Yamaguchi Prefecture.
The bank changed its operating nature
from a mutual-savings-and-loans bank (sogo bank) to a regional
bank in February 1989, when the name of the bank was also
changed fromTHE YAMAGUCHI SOGO BANK, LTD.toTHE
SAIKYO BANK, LTD..
The bank, conducting business affairs chiefly centered on
the prefecture, has opened offices in Fukuoka, Hiroshima,
Osaka and Tokyo, and has provided, as a bank contributing
to regional communities, various services which fit regional
needs through its extensive network consisting of 64 branches.
With the recent expansion of the internationalization of
the Japanese economy, the prefecture has also doubtless been
influenced.
In response to such circumstances, the bank, which places
its business base in the prefecture, has put stress on the
improvement and strengthening of its international business
department, and is making advance into the fields not only
of foreign trade but also of capital transactions and foreign
investments.
Through its long career, the bank intends to continue the
repeated efforts to be a bank which supports the prefecture's
economy for the coming 21st century.
